The Best Times to Visit the Bahamas: Bahamas Busy & Off-Seasons

A Seasonal Guide to the Bahamas Weather: The Best Times to Visit the Bahamas

If you are planning a vacation to the Bahamas, you may be wondering when the best time to visit is. The great new is, there is no bad time to visit the Bahamas. This is not only because it is the Bahamas, but also because the year round, it is always delightfully warm.

The Busy Season in The Bahamas

From December to May, the average daytime temperatures in the Bahamas are between the high 70s and low 80s, but keep in mind, the humidity can make it feel like it is much warmer. The busy season is June thru September, which is due to both the warm weather and to the Bahamas being an ideal vacation location for family and kids on summer break.

Expect tourist attractions to be bustling during the busy season. It is also important to book your excursions well ahead of time, because they fill up quickly. However, if you are traveling by cruise, this is less of a concern, because the cruise has secured their bookings with local excursion companies and attractions.

Bahamas Events December- May

Junkanoo Winter Festival (Dec. 26, Jan. 1)

Bahamas Billfish Championship (April)

The Off Season in The Bahamas

The official “off-season” in the Bahamas is between May and November, which is also the rainy season. The average temperatures in the Bahamas, during the off-season, are still in the 70s, with few days dipping into the 60s. However, evenings and morning hours may be in the mid to low 60s.

Are There Hurricanes in The Bahamas?

The official hurricane season in the Bahamas is June thru November, but hurricanes are infrequent. In fact, the mainland has far more hurricanes than the Bahamas.

Crowds will be greatly reduced during the off-season and excursions much easier to book. In fact, you may find that you are able to access the best prices on hotel, cruises, excursions, and all travel packages during the off-season.

Off-Season Perks

  • DISCOUNT TOURS & ACTIVITIES– some package-tour fares are as much as 20% lower, and individual excursion fares may be reduced from 5% to 10%.
  • NO CROWDS– no busy beaches or packed pools, you may even enjoy the beach to yourself
  • OFF- SEASON SALES– resort boutiques often feature summer sales to keep afloat during slower months
  • SEE MORE WITH LESS– gift yourself a bonus activity from the off season savings
  • MEETING LOCALS– traveling off-season is a better way to meet the locals and experience the island life as they do

Eleuthera Pineapple Festival (June)

Junkanoo Summer Festival (July)

The Best Weather in Bahamas

When you plan a Bahamas vacation, it is likely because you want to enjoy some fun in the sun. With an average of 300 days of sun each year, odds are in your favor that even if you travel during the off-season, most, if not all, of your days will be hot and sunny. If you don’t enjoy high humidity, visit during the off-season, but if you enjoy the heat, travel June thru September.

I wanted to take a minute to let you know how great a job Clayton has done for me since taking over Lisa’s position while she’s out on maternity leave. He has been thorough, professional, patient with my many questions and gave me all-around great customer service. It’s rare you find someone so committed to doing their job well and I wanted to take this time to call attention to his efforts.

Hi from Canada. Just wanted to thank you for setting up that wonderful trip for me and my friend Laura. We had a wonderful vacation. Everything was super. The ship the Celebration was great and the Hotel on the Bahamas was just what the doctor ordered. We hope to do it again sometime.
Thank you again for all your help in setting up all our reservations.

We just wanted to say thank you, we had a lot of fun on the cruise! Besides being sunburned haha, but if you see another one of those bahama cards filled out by me again its because we want to win again and go back. It’s required by the bahama people we met, they said “we are making you come back to see us”. So I said we will and I hope we win another one, we would definitely go again and do it all over!
